World war: War engulfing significant regions of the world. WWII, multiple countries involved.
Regional war: Limited to a specific geographical region. Napoleonic wars.
Civil war: War within a country. US civil war.
There is no "Empire war", the Empire sponsors and is the main beneficiary of major wars, (world & regional)
