In simplest terms, the objective is to destroy any community that might challenge the forces in power by breaking communities into smaller and smaller components. A total focus on "the individual" and so-called "individual rights" while ensuring that the rights of association were restricted by the destruction of communities that can gain political power and only allowing communities of subservience, of government bureaucrats, of professional organizations like medical, engineering, and other relatively harmless communities while polarization of and breaking up political organizations and isolation of dissenters.
Destroy cohesion and interconnectedness that form the foundations of society's "immune system" and ability to resist the establishment. All packaged as "freedom" and "liberty". Quite Orwellian isn't it?
Think of it as the match stick analogy: You can easily break individual match sticks but you can't break a bundle.
Sure, religion is an important component of civilizational heritage of a society, chipping away at the civilizational heritage, traditions and values is central to weakening societies. This partly explains "imported" religions during the Counterculture counterrevolution. An imported religion is not part of the civilizational heritage and hence doesn't pose a threat.
True, in principle, but... recalling from part 3, key finding of mass psychology:
"Truth and reality are irrelevant; perception is:
Shift in value systems from emphasis on “truth” to emphasis on “credibility.”
We live in a world where fantasy is more real than reality.
Reality is irrelevant, perception is; provided it is credible.
Media shapes perception."
Suffice to create perception of freedom using the media, hence the need to continually tell everybody they are free, they are well off, and of course we are #1 :-)
Fadi, I'm enjoying this phenomenal series. And, thank you for citing my work so extensively - I appreciate you bringing these ideas to a wider audience.
The way you framed the counterculture as a "counterrevolution" was spot on. I especially liked how you connected these cultural operations to weakening family bonds and social cohesion, setting the stage for later economic policies. We are most definitely watching the same movie.
That divorce rate chart really drives home your point with solid data. And your section on Women's Lib and the Rockefeller connection is the payoff.
Something I've been thinking about is how these operations often set up dialectical tracks - where both sides are controlled. Like how Jerry Falwell or the preacher character from Footloose were basically designed to make people like me scoff at traditional principles as a young man. They create caricatures that make it easy to dismiss entire value systems - even if they're rooted in virtue or earnestness. Instead, they make these people look like buffoons.
This duality seems core to the whole scheme - by controlling both sides of the debate, they eliminate the possibility of authentic opposition. Different flavors of the same control system that keep us divided throughout.
I'm looking forward to the final chapters in this epic collection of essays. Congrats.
First the quality of what I am writing is to a large extent by building on your work and that of ICE-9, so it is for me to thank you both.
Quote: "were basically designed to make people like me scoff at traditional principles as a young man"
Same with me, the funniest part which I discovered while researching recently, was my perception of the US as I was travelling there for my PhD, was the bikes on the open road in the middle of nowhere... absolute freedom for a biker. Turns out that director of Easy Rider was the son of an OSS officer lol and that I had fallen for it. By the way, it was I who got the book and was interrogated by the FBI Counterterrorism Division... it took me less than a year to pierce the image and see the ugly reality.
It is the classical subversion tactic to have a controlled opposition, an indicator of this is the fact that the terms "right and left" have become meaningless.
Loved your book and the these essays on your substack. Thank you. The information is quite challenging but believable. Living through all these events from JFK to now and realizing their these events were not a process due to chaos but due to a planned intent, makes me understand the mind set that did this is diabolical in nature and coordinated. One of the themes I believe you are revealing is the perceived reality we the citizens think we are protected by the constitution through our vote but this is not real. The reality is the constitution protects the elites to do what they want by changing laws before the plan is in place to implement their strategies. We believe we have the freedom to choose but the elites have the control to do what they want. We are the toad in the pan of water being heated and the elites are then ones controlling the heat to boil. Thanks for your insights and critical thinking
When I wrote the book, I tried to make it a "time independent" reference for the future. Unfolding events since publication corroborate analysis in the book. A case in point is yesterday's Simplicius' article:
Many years ago, I worked at Intel, and a group of people were going to a conference. One person asked if I was going, and I said no. He said he was going because Timothy Leary would be there, and being unfamiliar with who he was, he expressed surprise, and lightly touched on his role in the drug era. I decided to go out of curiousity. I attended various seminars, and then entered the hall where Leary explained that he would be playing videos with all kinds of random images and sound that were meant to be similar to an LSD trip.
I started watching, and it wasn't long before I thought that I shouldn't be there. I stood up and made my way across several people towards the exit. Just before I left, I turned and looked at everyone. It seemed like a mindless audience of people akin to a famous Apple ad in which a 1984-like scene is portrayed, people mindlessly staring at the screen, light dancing on their face in reflection.
I went to sit down outside, and DID feel weird. Unsettled. I have no idea if they had also pumped any kind of spray into the ventilation system. I'm thankful I had promptings or a gut feeling to leave when I did. I'm not sure if sensory overload is part of this experience to break down mental processes and any semblance of reality.
I haven't been a drug user so I don't know what they experience, so I have no reference to base it on. But that was my first and only experience with Leary.
Leary had a definite role in the Counterculture counterrevolution... his role was in promoting nihilism. Besides nihilism's impact on weakening social connectedness and cohesion, thereby weakening society's immune system; nihilism has had an extremely detrimental role on the economy. Rather than push individuals to persevere and work hard, be it at school or in the workplace, it promotes "dropping out" i.e. proposing an easy way out. This has contributed to the decline both in educational standards and economic competitiveness.
Very informative! Thank you! Here’re a few thoughts;
‘The family’ was already an ‘atomized unit,’ a ‘nuclear family’ a construct of ‘Western’ industrialization, mobility & urbanization that among many other hardships deprived mothers from extended family support, a situation that became further dire when called out to work during the wars — hence +many other hardships, the s.c. ‘feminist’ or ‘women movements’… The much touted Gloria Steinem, was a ‘thing’ in certain US circles but hardly of wider consequence. The meddling dirty fingers of “the Man” were and are everywhere — right to this moment with smarter and far more effective tricks turning for ex., all ‘movements’ into commercial BRANDs, with their colored flags and parades…
Maybe another analysis is called for that distills the gold hidden in those ‘touchy, feely,’ past and present efforts and movements, as ‘we’ live out ‘our’ lives in our sterile pods manipulated by our personal digital device… while wars, genocides and mayhem continue unchecked…
Destroying civilizational heritage and traditions is a gradual process. Chipping away at the family started as you correctly state by going from the extended family to the nuclear family, then progressed to weaken the nuclear family itself.
Quote: "Maybe another analysis is called for that distills the gold hidden in those ‘touchy, feely,’ past and present efforts and movements, as ‘we’ live out ‘our’ lives in our sterile pods manipulated by our personal digital device… while wars, genocides and mayhem continue unchecked…"
Good point, some of the points you raise, specifically "manipulated by our personal digital device" will be addressed in Part 7, to be published later this week.
Oh and you used the word scion describing David Crosby, which we'd just been talking about on ICE-9 as what Zion derived from. So I looked it up and it's also descendent, especially from wealthy aristocrats. It's the heir! That's what the Torah is essentially, describing who is the dynastic heir. So Zion means there's only one ruler for life, and one heir. Is that Trump?
Oh I would really doubt that. Trump may be very rich... but definitely no aristocrat lol
his father ran a brothel at one time, from wiki: "Trump's father, the German-born Frederick Trump, amassed considerable wealth during the Klondike Gold Rush by running a restaurant and brothel for miners"
I don't know what to think about the 170 orthodox rabbis voting him the new messiah, or the Cyrus-Trump coin, or the crown. Or him being born during the blood moon with all the astrological omens pointing to him as king of the apocalypse.
My gut says he's an actor and not a particularly good one. Even his name is a set-up. How much of his past has been invented? Definitely not the mastermind. All I know for sure is that I don't know anything for sure.
I too cannot be definite about him, for now I consider two possibilities:
1. He is a front man for a powerful group of sovereigntists who really want to stop and reverse the decline of the US
2. As ICE-9 suggests he is a front man for those who want to destroy the Old Nexus (old regime financial sector) and replace them with a much smaller technocratic elite.
The masses were abused in the old regime and will be much more so in the new regime (New Nexus)
This is the most succinct explanation I've read of counter-culture. I'd never put all those pieces together before. Rockefeller didn't mention the other impact of Women's Lib--doubling the mortgage rate for the same house. It should have gone the other way and freed men so their labor could also serve the family and community, not so that women would also serve the 'market'. Thank you, Fadi!
I guess the Rockefellers are higher up the food chain... Philosopher Kings? money means nothing... power is their quest... destruction is their passion
as for this Gloria Steinem what a wicked person.... we have a saying "you can tell a person from their face"..... checkout into what ugliness she morphed, same as Nuland
The worst part... back then I was strongly anti-Empire, anti-war, pro-all liberation movements in the world... yet the perception of America in my subconscious.. was ultimate freedom on the open road... the image from Easy Riders... Dennis Hoppe turned out to be son of an OSS officer lol
the other day I picked up a book "Measure what Matters" about the rise of Google and who was behind it. Subtitle includes "OKR's". Nowhere in the subtitle or content is it defined. Had to google it...
"The New Nexus was rising, and what was needed at the center intersection of that Venn Diagram was the 24/7 surveillance, censorship, and mind control “digital transformation” of an American people that soon would make nothing, yet bought everything on credit. The likes of Amazon, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and Twitter – all birthed from their DARPA, In-Q-Tel, Project Bluebird, or some other MIC venture capital uterus"
Unions are/were deeply corrosive. They ruined education, they ruined police departments as abusive police officers became increasingly protected, and destroyed work ethic in the private sector.
A lot of truth in what you say. However being powerful groups it was natural that they were undermined by the establishment. Nevertheless, when unions were destroyed in the 1980s it opened the door wide open for financialization of the economy, impoverishment of society, and concentration of wealth with top 0.1%. Today 50% of households in the US are poor, the wealth of the 0.1% tranche of society exceeds total wealth of the bottom 0-50%. This will be discussed in part 8, which should be published late next week.
By the way, in the 1980s I worked in a factory in Georgia, a "Right-to-Work" state. I realized back then that it was over for the US. The company was divided into blue collar workers and white collar management and staff. Rather than forming a single team to compete against our competitors, they formed two antagonistic teams. Management was focused on squeezing the most out of the workers while giving them the minimum possible. The workers were focused on giving the company the minimum they can get away with, without being fired. A funny story that reflects this:
I was in charge of R&D and product development for a cutting tools product line and also in charge of heat treatment for the 5 factories of the division.
One day I received a batch of high speed steel bars with a request for annealing treatment, a process that requires 3 days. I checked the steel's hardness and microstructure, it was OK. I went to the operator that sent the batch, he was a on old chap, a veteran. He mounted a bar on the milling machine, midway it started to chatter.
Annealing requires heating to around 830C (1530F) followed by very slow cooling. I gave heat treatment orders: 3 hours at 200C (390F). This doesn't affect steel structure or properties, just provides appearance of having been in the furnace. I held the batch for three days then sent it to production.
I dropped a few hours later and the operator was milling the bar satisfactorily. I told the operator what he had done earlier, namely setting the cutting conditions to generate chatter and the heat treatment I had ordered. The poor man was shitting bricks. I told him not to worry, management will not know about this, but never again on my watch :-)

And they're going after Christians as well, because it's a resistance against such efforts.

Powerful & informative - thank YOU ...
Absolutely totally thoroughly explaining the history behind the curtain of The Wizards of Oz! MUST READ!

What? Kurt Vonnegut is no longer with us, so how can he have a Substack?
Vonnegut was a decent man... two events shaped his psyche and therefore his writing:
1. The fire bombing of Dresden by the UK & US which as a POW he survived in basement of a slaughterhouse, this made him anti-war
2. The nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, this made him anti-Christian
